MedalDesk helps organizations run badminton tournaments. This page explains what information is handled and why. Tournament organizers decide which players to enter and what to publish; we process that information for them.
The organization that creates a tournament is responsible for the player information it enters and publishes, including getting any consent needed. We act as its service provider and use the information only to run the service. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Many tournaments include players under 18. Organizers must have the permission of a parent or guardian before entering a minor, and should publish only what is needed (for example names, clubs and results). Parents who want a child's information corrected or removed should contact the organizer; we will help the organizer do it.
Each tournament has a public page that shows players' names, clubs, draws, schedules and results so families can follow along. Contact details such as e-mail and phone numbers are not shown on public pages.
Only the service providers we need to run the service: our hosting and database providers (Vercel and Supabase), Stripe for payments, and an e-mail provider for sign-in and invitation messages. They may store data on servers outside Canada. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Until the organization deletes it. Owners can download all of their data and delete their organization from the account page; deletion removes tournaments, players and results. Backups may take a short time to clear.
Data is separated between organizations, access is limited by role, connections are encrypted, and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at once if you suspect a problem.
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold. For a player's tournament information, ask the organizer first; for your account, contact us.
